Post Dating

I've made a really good friend over the last 6 months here in Canada.
He was part of last years Ignite team, and we both seem to have a lot in common.

Dan, like me is a gamer but also a people person, he loves others, mission and just giving, and has a knack for knowing random things, which people tell me I do to. Also a very good writer, check out his blog....

I had the pleasure of spending a few days in his company at his house, (with some phenomenal hospitality I may add) but have talked over heaps of things, anyways today’s topic was from a conversation on the way home last night with him.

Dan loves Rachel, they're a gorgeous couple, and in about a months time they have their 2 year anniversary... (Congrats guys) But one funny thing about it, and most couples, is how do we define when our relationship starts?

You find relationship where one person says one date and the other something else, sometimes even to the point that it was all hazy and that you just pick something in between. Then Dan (I don't want to take the credit) said that, Girls kind of take it from the first day that they meet, or first date, and guys kind of make it those first days where u hold hands, or are a couple in public

So not really having that much experience in this area, what do you guys think?
What defines where the anniversary should be? Or should u even bother with anniversaries?

PS. Sorry dude got it out first ;)

Love on a Corner

Ever thought of picking up some love on a corner, I'm actually not meaning this the way you think. As I said in the previous blog, I'm currently in bermuda, and i've seen some sites, one of my favourite is this guy.

My Photo

The story behind this fellow is a really cool one, from about 8-11 every morning he stands on the corner of the main road into Hamilton, (Capital of Bermuda) and proceeds to blow kisses and tell everyone who comes pass that he loves them. He's such a sight but his love for the people was huge.

His story is that he used to be a public servant and just decided there wasn't enough love in the world, so he retired, and every day he took it on himself to greet people. And he became such an institution the government now pays him to do it. I'd love to see his job description, "Makes love to many people everyday", not a hard job, sorry couldn't resist that joke.

But I guess this really is showing God's kind of love, one that would give up everything just to bring love to the world. Very Jesus like though.

And well he is very much an inspiration and a motivator, because well if I can show even a little bit of that love, I would be happy.

So i guess no question this time, but well a call, to love more selfless and i guess more publicly too

Respect the Solid

I've met some influential people in my life, most in the Salvation Army, but over my life I have definitely heard and met a lot of 'great' people, (Most by accident though). But through all this, one thing I've recognised is that I have a slight problem with respect. (or well lack of it, well i think I do atleast)

Talking as a generalisation (So don't start taking this personally), but I feel that my generation (and younger than me) have a problem with respect. Most times that we are put under a leader that we do not know, we can really put them under the microscope, till they earn our respect (if they ever do). This is kinda opposite to our parents/older generations, where being in Leadership automatically garnered you Respect, it was due!

So over the last year, I've met some great leaders, ones that could in reality change the world, do things that are far bigger than they already do, but the thing that really defines them to me as 'great' leaders is that they don't do everything they could do, they do everything that means something to them.

They're solid and convicted of a major idea in their life, and everything revolves and contributes to that one thing, and in reality, they remove anything that doesn't fit that Idea. This has been a huge thing for me. I've been a 'I can do everything' kind of person, I would love to try and be in everything, and well I have really taken on these examples, these people that I respect, as motivation to work out what is the core of what I want to do. I want to be a person that people respect, a person that has strong convictions and someone who is used where they are suppose to be used.

What that is? Hmmm still working it out, but maybe I guess that's why I'm trying everything till I find it, oh well....

PS. So that was good, I got all the way through that without using the "R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Find out what it means to me" line, because I know if I did, I definitely would of lost your Respect. ;)

Attracting the Same or the One?

So I'm in bermuda, hard life i know, and really enjoying it, you can find photos here...

Anyways this evening I went to a massive market festival, and while having a look around I went and looked at a shop full of shirts for sale, and when I looked up to see the shop attendant, I was like hmmmm, she's quite cute, well I won't use the word cute after my previous blog but well attractive

So after playing a little game of eye contact tennis, I walked away. She reminded me alot of someone I liked in the past, when I looked at her. Something about her face, well just her general appearance.

Which got me thinking, when we're attracted to people in life, like I was with this girl, is it just my past attraction with my friend that I can see in this girl or is it that I'm just attracted to the same type of person?

I guess it may come down to how much this girl/person looks like my friend, or how much she didn't.

So any thoughts, or past situations you have found yourself in, relating to this issue?

PS. If you were wondering, no I didn't talk to her, and haha i'd have no idea what to say anyways :)
