Believing its Christmas

Can you seriously believe its Christmas??? Or at least nearing it?

All the decorations are coming out, the (Not so cheap) Sales are starting to appear, Toy Brochures are coming out (I love toys) and having to bring out the brass instrument to play carols again.

I do love Christmas, I'm kind of not ready for it, as my whole seasons are out of whack in my head (After already having a summer in Canada and now going into another) my mind is not there yet.

There is one thing that I am starting to realise. My friend Mary touched on it in her blog, but for those without the ability to follow links, I'll explain.

As I’ve grown up, and I guess last year helped, my thoughts and favourite bits of Christmas has changed. As kids, it's always about the toys, about what we would get in our stocking (or what would be on our chair as it was in our house) But thinking back now, my favourite memories of Christmas were when my whole extended family were around at my grandparents house, and me running around all my older cousins.

And this is what Mary touched on... as you grow older, and probably more important grow up, it starts to become less about you, and more about others. Others is something that has always been a huge part of my family, and well the Salvation Army has always been about others

At my church we have an early morning service on Christmas day and all the kids bring their new toys and we as a church family just experience everything together. Jesus called us into community and I think that the best way to celebrate his birth into a 'family' is to be around our own.

So what's your favourite bit about Christmas?

---- EXTRA ----

And I thought my light decoration was good

Ya! A link to my blog! Woot woot! I feel special!!
Anyways, my favourite bit about Christmas is a few things actually.
1) decorating the Christmas tree with my family. My mom and I get the tree out, put it up, put the light on it and then my dad hand my sis, mom and i the decorations. Always fun.
2)Boxing day, (or Dec 26th) we go to my nanny and poppy's house and have a second Christmas there and just get to be with all the family.
3) this is probably my favourite. I love going out with my mom on the kettles. We've been doing it for many years now. We just do one shift together, but it's always fun. We just sit there and talk. Last year I even quit my job so that I could do it with her!
Well those are just a few of my Christmas memories! And if you think that Christmas is coming to early for you, you should think again, I just had my first of three Christmases tonight!

I'm totally scrooged this year. Can't catch the spirit. It seems more like going through the motions than anything else....but maybe my first Christmas spent in heat instead of snow will turn things around...????

While being away from my family might bum me out a little, I am excited about my upcoming trip to your lovely country!
What will Christmas be like in Oz?

See you soon!!!

KETTLES!!

just kidding.

I love having Christmas dinner with the fam..and when we have the crackers that you pull and then inside is a paper crown that all end up being too big to fit any of our heads..and then we read the cheesy jokes and play with the cheap toys that come in them. Yah..love it.

Holy crap..I totally forgot to add...going out tree picking with my family. Every year since I was a wee child..we got to Magic Hill Tree Farm and go on a hayride and pick out our tree..and then name it..and then cut it down. Then see Santa and have Hot Chocolate..and sometimes play on the swings if we're not too cold lol. I love it. Christmas means we never have to grow up :)

I love opening presents... not because I get them but because we sit around together and watch each other open our presents taking it in turns. I love it, it's almost like being given twice as many gifts. Smiles and laughter... I just wish we didn't have to wait until after church but tradition is tradition.
